I’ve been hearing both good and bad about this del Toro movie and decided to check it out for myself.  Crimson Peak came out in October of last year.  It stars  Mia Wasikowska, who played Alice in the recent Burton version of Alice in Wonderland, and Charlie Hunnam…Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy. Both actors put forth a damn decent performance.  

I made a delicious big mug of coffee and started the movie.  I am a true lover of Gothic horror / fantasy horror / suspense and this movie did not fail my criteria. Not the most scary or suspenseful movie I’ve seen, but when you combine cool sets, affects, acting, and direction, you get a good, solid film.

The story, just vapid enough to allow the mood of the film to overshadow it, takes us through predictable moments, but it was most certainly entertaining enough to keep me in my seat for the whole film.

If you enjoy Gothic horror, then you’ll likely enjoy Crimson Peak.  In my opinion a solid 5 full coffee mugs
